Put the phone down.
Stop taking pictures. Stop recording.
You’re only taking pictures of these,
To post on your social media feed.
Yes, the phone will retain that memory of you trying to get a good picture, a good video.
And you can watch that screen repeatedly.
But the experience of absorbing that moment is a missed opportunity.
The complex networks of neurons in your brain,
Were initially made
Not to use the boomerang filter on IG.
The brain has the ability
To create stronger neural plasticity.
The neural patterns created
Is not a figment of the imagination.
‘Tis a wonder of life and of biology.
Humankind has done this for ages.
We have done it without
Quite too much doubt.
Stories were recalled without any recordings.
What makes it more interesting,
Is the art and the drawings,
The epic tales that we tell, the small details that may be imaginary.
There is no wrong in that. It is simply pseudo-memory.
Beauty in this is what
The brain put together in such
A moment. A memory.
